Is a QR code right for you?  Maybe.  I’ve been seeing some clever ways of using QR codes lately and some not so clever ways.  Below is a quick list of meaningful ways to start incorporating the pixilated space invader (Atari) square thingy.

1.  Use a QR code to give viewers/attendees of an event a special offer.

2.  Use a QR code to supply additional information.   Don’t just send someone to your website, create unique targeted and useful information. I like the idea of putting a short white paper on the back of a business card.

3.  Use a QR code to create engagement with your customer.  Entice the public to interact with your brand and offer them something for doing so.  Put a QR code on a receipt with a targeted thank you or perhaps your newsletter or next sale/promotion date.

Some specific examples of how QR codes are being used:

1.  Google is using QR codes to highlight “Favorite Places” in search results.

2.  Real estate agents are putting QR codes on “house for sale signs.”

3.  McDonald’s uses QR codes on its packaging in Japan so consumers can access nutritional information such as the amount of calories, fat and carbs in a meal.

And sometimes, why not use it just for fun.
