We are excited and proud to announce that our very own Gregg Smith has been named to the Traverse City Record-Eagle’s Reader Advisory Board. Gregg succeeds Paul Heaton, former public relations director at Northwestern Michigan College, who moved from the area.

Smith grew up in a newspaper family and in the mid-1960’s was the youngest community publisher in the state. His newspapers were in several northwestern Lower Michigan communities, including Boyne City, Charlevoix, Kalkaska and East Jordan, and Crawford, Antrim and Emmet counties. Amongst his paper’s honors were general excellence awards from the Michigan Press Association, a distinguished journalism award from the University of Michigan Press Club and a Newspaper of the Year award from the MPA.
